A big thank you to everyone who participated in the virtual Annual Meeting yesterday. We need members to participate in the governance of the LMSC.
What do you think of the virtual Zoom format? It certainly was faster and easier than traveling to a meeting. Should we go back to an in-person meeting next year that follows a swim and social event? Should we keep the virtual meeting and just have a separate swim and social? Post a reply or email me (Bob Singer) at N5442T@gmail.com)
If you missed the meeting or want to catch up on details I...Read more

I am pleased to report that Sarah King and I (Bob Singer) have both been accepted as members of the USMS National Long Distance Committee. This Committee oversees rules for long distance and open water events. Our outspoken participation at the annual convention this year seems to be rewarded with more work for us. We also will have voices for the selection of sites for events. We look forward to being able to pass along the ideas and concerns of our Adirondack swimmers to the larger national governing body.Read more
We are geographically diverse, and seldom get to socialize. Our biggest social event is the Annual Meeting in December. I hope more of you can come to that fun event, which includes a subsidized dinner that is preceded by a swim at the Saratoga YMCA. In the meantime, we are organizing a calendar that will have more pool events than we have had in years. We will post the events as soon as plans are formalized, but the first one (Save the Date!) is Sunday, October 15, at the Glens Falls High School. This meet will be different, since we are running it concurrently with a YMCA youth meet....Read more
One of the challenges of our geographically disperse club is that we seldom get together and get to know each other. Your club officers and committee chairs have decided to migrate around the LMSC region. It may take us a year, but we are intending to swim with every coached group and workout group in the region. We'd like to participate in your regular workout and go out for coffee or a drink with some of the members afterward. It's really just an excuse for a different type of workout routine, but it may also empower all our members to travel and work out with other swimmers sometimes....Read more
There is another way to look at it, for my age I am I staying the same or slowing down or even getting faster?
We're all getting older and part of that process is slowing down and that can be discouraging.
Don't get me wrong I still compare my times and dont' like getting slower but I've found a way to compare them that takes aging into consideration. There is a time rating calculator that allows me to compare my times today against times from previous years to see how I stand against time. A...Read more

The Lake George Marathon Swim is returning! This swim will serve to highlight Lake George and the history of Lake George marathon swimming. The 32-mile swim commemorates Diane Struble, the first person to swim the length, in 1958, and all those who swim in her wake. Since 1958, only six other solo swimmers and one relay have accomplished this feat. We expect to more than double that historical count in one day!
Registration is closed for the 2016 swim with 14 individual swimmers and 14 relay teams.
