Club Attachment and Transfers

Monday, March 10, 2025

There are new rules about how to change your club attachment and how to transfer from one club to another.

MOST members of Adirondack are attached to the club ADMS, even though we swim at MANY different locations throughout our region, on our own, in small groups, or in coached programs. This allows us to swim on relays in meets with the greatest possible number of Masters swimmers in our region.

When you registered or renewed as a member of AD-LMSC/USMS, you may have chosen to not attach to a “club.” UC-03 means you are a member of AD-LMSC but are unattached to a club. This is okay, except that members who are unattached to a club are not able to swim in relays at meets. Should you wish to change your unattached membership to ADMS or one of the other designated “clubs” in our LMSC, you can accomplish this now through visiting usms.org

Each swimmer is able to modify their registration information through their My Account login on the USMS website.

Beginning with the 2025 registration year, a swimmer may change club affiliation at the time of annual membership registration and up to three additional times during the membership year. This can be done directly through your My Account.

Changing a swimmer's status to unattached does not count against the allowable club changes per year.

A swimmer may compete for only one club during a meet. A transfer submitted during a meet, including at the time of annual registration, may take immediate effect only if the swimmer has not yet competed in the meet.

Swimmers may declare unattached status at any time except during a meet in which they have already competed. Swimmers who intend to compete as unattached should change their registration status prior to the meet.

There is no longer a 60 day waiting period to transfer your membership.

More details can be found in the USMS rulebook, under article 201.3 Representation/Club Affiliation.
