Annual Swim for Love: Lake Desolation
The Saratoga Triathlon Club announces the 1st Annual Swim For Love, taking place Sunday, August 8 at 10 a.m. We will be swimming from the beach across the road from Tinney’s Tavern at Lake Desolation and will benefit Love146.
Love 146 is a global organization with local roots that is working toward the abolition of child sex slavery and exploitation through prevention and aftercare solutions while contributing to a growing abolition movement. Their vision is the abolition of child sex slavery and exploitation… nothing less. Please visit their website atwww.love146.org for more information on how you can become involved.
The swims will be timed and have prizes for overall winners in each heat but first and foremost we want to have fun and of course raise money for charity! The three distances are: .25 mile, .5 mile, 1 mile.
For those of you who have been coming to the Thursday night practice swims, you know it's a great venue for beginner and seasoned open water swimmers alike! This is also great practice for the upcoming Betsy Owens Memorial Cable Swim in Lake Placid on August 14 (1- and 2-mile swims) and the Crystal Lake Triathlon on August 21st (.5 mile swim).
The entry fee for the Lake Desolation Charity Swim is $12 and includes all of the following:
A safe course hosted by the Saratoga Triathlon Club, with lifeguards and kayakers. One raffle ticket that will put you in the drawing for a golf foursome at Saratoga National plus tons of other prizes. The opportunity to swim in any or all three of the events (we encourage you to buy a $10 raffle ticket for each additional heat you compete in - remember it's for charity!). Official finish times, A swim cap keepsake
Swag and recognition for fastest times of each distance.
Registration will be the morning of the event starting at 9 a.m. at the beach. There will be three heats corresponding to the three swim distances. As this is a charity/fundraising event we encourage you to invite anyone else you know! Raffle tickets will be available to everyone for purchase and we'll announce the winners after the swims.
The event is being organized by the Saratoga Triathlon Club and Green Leaf Racing, the organizers of the Hudson Crossing Triathlon. Proceeds from the raffle will help fund the vision of the Saratoga Triathlon Club and Love146. For more information check out www.saratogatriclub.com!
